Congratulations!

Congratulations to Lindsay Drucker '09, who has been accepted into the MFA program in film production at USC's Peter Stark Producing Program. It's quite an honor to be accepted, with only 25 out of 450 applications accepted. Great work Lindsay, and we'll be looking for your name in the film credits in the future.

Recent Photo Program News

We had a wonderful photo program reunion 2 years ago. It was so good to see everyone. We got out lots of old thesis work from our files, and Francois and I did a lot of reminiscing about working with all of you. We have worked together for 28 years now (!) and have seen so much talent and so many wonderful people pass through the program. It was delightful to see so many old friends, to hear about what you are doing, and to see new work. We will do it again sometime soon. Our contact email list is very far from complete, so please send us updates as you can.

This year I have started a series of Career Development Workshops to connect current students with alumni in various parts of the field. In the fall, Kevin Twomey and Ryan Pfluger each spent a day on campus showing their work and meeting with students. We will continue this program this spring, and in the future as we can.

We had an exhibition of current BFA work at the Calumet Gallery in NYC last spring, and it was a great success. We had a great crowd at the opening, a beautiful catalogue, and very positive feedback. Special thanks to Francois, Lindsay Drucker, and Eileen Carpenter for coordinating. We are hoping to do it again next spring. Eileen Carpenter (BFA) and Patty Tyrol (MA) represented the Photo program with wonderful work in an exhibition at the Center for Photography last spring as well.

Our BFA program is the largest it has ever been, with 25 current BFA’s. Photography has truly become the premier communication medium in our time, and we are pleased that we have so many motivated and serious students. We are getting ready for our annual show in the library on campus, opening March 22, and invite you to come by to see it if you are nearby.

Thanks to Kimmy Ruth and Lindsay Drucker for getting me started blogging with the Contemporary Issues class last spring. I’ve so far resisted MySpace and then Facebook – not enough time in the day!
Ann
